What Is Prepainted Steel?
Prepainted steel — also referred to as color-coated steel or pre-coated steel coil — is a steel or aluminum substrate that has been cleaned, chemically pretreated, primed, and coated with an organic paint system before fabrication.
The result is a pre-finished material that arrives ready to cut, form, and assemble — with no secondary painting or surface treatment required at your facility. This eliminates painting booths and drying ovens, shortens your production cycle, and delivers batch-to-batch color and gloss consistency that in-house painting rarely achieves.
Prepainted steel is widely specified for home appliance panels, roofing sheets, wall cladding, sandwich panel facings, door skins, suspended ceilings, architectural facades, and signage. The right product depends on your substrate requirement, service environment, and surface finish.

Why Choose Everesteel Prepainted Steel
Direct from the Manufacturer — No Intermediary
Every coil is produced at Everesteel's own factory in Jiangyin, Jiangsu, on our own coating and processing lines. You are not buying from a trading company. That means direct control over your specifications, direct accountability for quality, and no margin added by a middleman.
26,000+ Tons Annual Capacity for Consistent Supply
Our production capacity supports both sample-stage procurement and full-volume recurring orders. Whether you are qualifying a new material or scaling an established panel line, Everesteel can maintain supply continuity without sourcing from third parties.
Full Specification Control at the Coating Line
Because we operate our own coating lines, we match zinc weight, AZ coating, paint system, color, and gloss to your actual application — not a generic grade. Specifications are confirmed, not assumed, before production begins.
Custom Colors Matched and Approved In-House
Standard RAL and Pantone references are held on file. Custom color formulations are produced directly on our coating lines, with lab drawdowns and production samples provided for buyer approval before the full run. One supplier is accountable for the match across every order.
Downstream Processing — Coil, Slit, or Sheet
Slitting, cut-to-length, embossing, lamination, and custom color matching are all available in-house. Your material can arrive in the exact format your production line needs — not just as master coil.
Buyers in 65+ Countries
Everesteel supplies procurement teams and panel manufacturers in over 65 countries, with a 98.7% on-time delivery rate and more than 6,800 global buyers served.

Quality Control and Certifications
Everesteel maintains a documented quality management system across every stage of production — from incoming substrate inspection through to final coil labeling and packaging.
In-process controls include:
- Incoming coil substrate inspection (thickness, zinc coating weight, mechanical properties)
- Paint film thickness measurement at the coating line
- Adhesion testing (cross-cut and T-bend)
- Gloss and color measurement against approved reference standards
- Salt spray and humidity cabinet testing for selected grades
- Final dimensional check prior to packaging
Test reports and material certifications (mill certificates) are issued with each shipment. Third-party inspection — including SGS, BV, and CCIC — can be arranged on request prior to loading.
Our certifications and documented quality controls support buyer qualification, export compliance, and consistent product quality across repeat orders.

FAQs
Q1. What is the difference between PPGI, PPGL, PPAL, and PPCR?
All four are prepainted products — the difference is the substrate beneath the paint. PPGI uses a hot-dip galvanized (zinc-coated) steel base, suited to general indoor and moderate outdoor use. PPGL uses a Galvalume (55% aluminum-zinc alloy) base, offering stronger corrosion resistance for coastal and weather-exposed exterior applications. PPAL uses an aluminum alloy base — inherently corrosion-resistant and roughly one-third the weight of steel — specified for ceilings, facades, signage, and transportation panels. PPCR uses a cold-rolled steel base with no metallic coating, suited to interior and low-corrosion applications. If you are unsure which substrate fits your project, share your application details and we will advise.
Q2. Which prepainted steel product is right for my application?
The right choice depends on your environment, durability needs, and finish requirements. Each of our prepainted steel products is engineered for a specific use case, so matching the material to your application ensures the best performance and value.
For general-purpose coated steel work, PPGI is a reliable, cost-effective option that covers a wide range of everyday applications. If your project faces the outdoors or moisture-heavy conditions, PPGL offers stronger corrosion resistance and holds up well in demanding environments. When weight matters and appearance is a priority, PPAL delivers a lightweight, decorative panel solution. For interior settings with minimal corrosion exposure, PPCR provides a clean, dependable finish. And for appliance exteriors or decorative functional panels, PCM combines a refined surface with the durability those products require.
If you’re unsure which option fits your specifications, share your application details with our team and we’ll recommend the best match.
Q3. Is Everesteel a manufacturer or a trading company?
Everesteel is a manufacturer. Every coil supplied is produced at our own factory in Jiangyin, Jiangsu, on our own coating and processing lines. We do not source product from third-party mills and resell it. Buying factory-direct means your specification is controlled at the source, and you have direct access to our technical team throughout the process.
Q4. What is the minimum order quantity?
Our standard minimum order quantity is 5 tons per specification. For custom colors or non-standard dimensions requiring new paint formulation or tooling setup, we recommend 5–10 tons. Contact us to discuss your project volume — we accommodate both sampling requirements and full production orders.
Q5. How does custom color matching work?
Submit a RAL code, Pantone reference, or physical sample. Our technical team produces a lab drawdown — typically within 5–7 working days — for your review. Once you approve the color and specification in writing, we schedule full production. A production-run sample can also be provided for final approval before the complete order is processed.
Q6. What paint systems are available, and which is right for my application?
We offer PE (polyester), HDP (high-durability polyester), SMP (silicone-modified polyester), and PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) topcoat systems. PE is cost-effective and well suited to interior applications. HDP and SMP offer improved UV and weather resistance for moderate exterior use. PVDF delivers the best long-term color retention and weather resistance for roofing, facades, and coastal environments. We will recommend the most appropriate system based on your application, regional climate, and target service life.
Q7. What quality documentation is provided with each shipment?
Every shipment is accompanied by a mill certificate and test report covering the relevant parameters for your specification — including coating weight, paint film thickness, adhesion, gloss, and color. Everesteel holds ISO 9001 quality management system certification. Third-party pre-shipment inspection by SGS, BV, CCIC, or your nominated inspector can be arranged on request.
Q8. Can you supply material as slit coil or cut-to-length sheet rather than master coil?
Yes. We operate slitting and cut-to-length lines in-house. Coils can be slit to custom widths from 20 mm and above, and sheet blanks can be cut to your specified dimensions with flatness and squareness tolerances suitable for direct press or roll-former feeding. Sheets are stacked, interleaved with protective paper where required, and packaged for export.
Q9. What is the typical lead time for prepainted steel orders?
Standard lead time is 15–25 days from order confirmation and deposit receipt. Custom colors requiring new paint formulation may add 7–10 days for lab drawdown and approval. Expedited scheduling may be available depending on production capacity at the time of order. We confirm your lead time when we respond to your inquiry.
