Own Factory, Own Coating Lines, Full Specification Control
Everesteel designs and manufactures prepainted steel coils and sheets at our factory in Jiangyin, Jiangsu — one of China’s primary steel processing hubs. With 26,000+ tons of annual production capacity, we support board manufacturers, OEMs, and procurement teams across 65+ countries, from first sample approval through to full-volume orders.
We are not a trading company. Every gridline board coil that leaves our facility is coated and printed on our own lines, giving you direct control over grid spacing, pattern accuracy, color, and lead time. That in-house control matters most for a printed product — the grid has to land in the same place on every sheet, batch after batch.

What is Gridline Board Steel?
Gridline board steel is a magnetic prefinished writing steel with a printed grid, dot, line, or planner pattern built into the surface construction. Like standard whiteboard steel, it starts with a steel substrate that is cleaned, pretreated, primed, and coated. The key difference is that a guide pattern is printed before the final dry-erase topcoat is applied, so the layout remains permanent while the board surface stays fully writable and wipeable.
Because the printed guide is sealed beneath the writable topcoat, users can write and erase over the surface without removing the underlying pattern under normal dry-erase use. The steel substrate also provides magnetic receptivity, allowing the finished board to function as both a writing and magnetic planning surface.
Gridline board steel is supplied ready to fabricate in coil or cut-to-length sheet form, eliminating the need for secondary printing or surface finishing at the buyer’s facility. It is commonly used for planning boards, graph and math boards, drafting surfaces, scheduling boards, and project-tracking walls where a built-in visual guide improves usability.
Gridline Board Steel vs Whiteboard Steel vs Chalkboard Steel
All three are prepainted magnetic steel writing surfaces built on the same core process. The difference is the top surface and how it’s used.
| Factor | Gridline Board Steel | Whiteboard Steel | Chalkboard Steel |
|---|---|---|---|
| Surface | Writable topcoat over printed grid/line pattern | Plain dry-erase writable topcoat | Matte chalk-receptive topcoat |
| Writing tool | Dry-erase marker | Dry-erase marker | Chalk / chalk marker |
| Printed pattern | Yes — grid, dot, line, or calendar | No (plain, custom print optional) | No (plain, custom print optional) |
| Magnetic | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Best use | Planning, drafting, graph, scheduling boards | General office and classroom boards | Classroom, café, menu boards |
| Finish look | Gloss or matte with visible guide lines | Gloss or satin white | Matte black, green, custom |
| Cost level | Standard + print setup | Standard | Standard |
- Choose gridline board steel when the board needs a built-in measurement or layout guide. Choose plain whiteboard steel when a clean writable surface is all you need, and chalkboard steel when the writing tool is chalk.
Why Buyers Source Gridline Board Steel from Everesteel
Precise, Repeatable Grid Printing on Our Own Lines
A gridline board only works if the pattern is accurate and consistent. Because we print and coat on our own equipment, we control grid spacing, line weight, and registration across every coil. That means the 25 mm square on your first sheet matches the 25 mm square on your ten-thousandth sheet — no drift, no misaligned edges, no batch-to-batch variation.
A Sealed Pattern That Survives Daily Use
The grid sits beneath the writable topcoat, not on top of it. So daily marking and erasing never wears the pattern away. Our adhesion and abrasion testing confirms the topcoat holds through fabrication and years of dry-erase cleaning, keeping the printed guide crisp long after the board is installed.
A Magnetic, Ready-to-Fabricate Writing Surface
Every coil arrives finished — printed, coated, and magnetic — so there's no printing booth or surface treatment step at your factory. You slit, cut, form, and assemble straight into finished boards. That removes a full process stage from your line and cuts the rework that comes with in-house printing.
Custom Grids and Colors, Made to Your Design
Standard grids, dot grids, ruled lines, and calendar layouts are held as references, and we produce custom patterns to your artwork or specification. Line color, background color, and spacing are all adjustable. You receive a printed production sample for approval before mass production, with one supplier accountable for both the print and the writing surface.

Surface and Pattern Options

Square Grid
Uniform square grids in common spacings — 10, 20, 25, or 50 mm. The standard choice for planning boards, math and graph boards, and layout surfaces.

Dot Grid
Evenly spaced dots that guide writing and sketching without the heavier look of full lines. Popular for design, brainstorming, and modern office boards.

Ruled Lines
Horizontal or column rules for lists, schedules, and note boards. Widely used for team planning and production-tracking walls.

Calendar / Planner Layout
Printed month, week, or Kanban-style grids for scheduling and project boards, ready to fabricate into finished planners.

Custom Artwork
Company templates, scale rulers, seating charts, or branded layouts printed to your supplied design and approved before the full run.

Gloss and Matte Topcoats
The same grid can carry a high-gloss finish for bright visible boards or a low-glare matte finish for classrooms and well-lit rooms.
In-House Processing Capabilities
Downstream processing is available in-house, so your gridline board steel arrives in the format your production line actually needs — not just as a master coil.
Slitting
Coils are slit to custom widths from 20 mm and above, with tight tolerances and clean edges suited to board framing and panel forming.
Cut-to-Length
Sheet blanks cut to your board dimensions with flatness and squareness tolerances suitable for direct framing and assembly. Grid alignment to the sheet edge is controlled during cutting.
Custom Grid Printing
Grid spacing, line weight, dot patterns, calendars, and full custom artwork printed in-line and sealed under the writable topcoat, with a production sample provided for approval.
Lamination
Protective film applied over the finished surface for transit protection and scratch resistance during shipping and fabrication.
Custom Color Matching
Submit a RAL code, Pantone reference, or physical sample for line and background colors, and our technical team formulates a matched batch — with a printed production sample provided before the full run begins.

FAQs
Q1. What is the difference between gridline board steel and plain whiteboard steel?
Both are prepainted magnetic steel writing surfaces. Gridline board steel has a printed grid, dot, line, or calendar pattern sealed beneath the writable topcoat, while plain whiteboard steel has a blank writing surface. Choose gridline board steel when the board needs a built-in guide for planning, drafting, or teaching.
Q2. Will the grid pattern wear off with daily writing and erasing?
No. The printed pattern sits under the clear dry-erase topcoat, not on top of it. You write and erase over the topcoat, so the grid stays sharp and permanent. Our abrasion and adhesion tests confirm the surface holds up to years of normal dry-erase use.
Q3. Is gridline board steel magnetic?
Yes. It’s built on a full steel substrate, so magnets hold directly on the surface. You can use it as both a writing board and a magnetic board at the same time.
Q4. Can you print a custom grid or company template?
Yes. Submit your artwork, grid spacing, or a reference sample, and we print it in-line and seal it under the topcoat. We provide a printed production sample for your written approval before mass production. Custom patterns typically add 7–10 days for setup.
Q5. What grid spacings and colors are available?
Standard spacings are 10, 20, 25, and 50 mm, with custom spacing on request. Line colors include grey, blue, black, and green, and background colors include white and light grey. We match custom RAL or Pantone references for both line and background.
Q6. What is your minimum order quantity for gridline board steel?
Our standard minimum order quantity is 5 tons per specification. For custom grids or non-standard colors, we recommend 5–10 tons to cover print setup and color formulation costs. Contact us to discuss your project volume.
Q7. What is the typical lead time?
Standard lead time is 15–25 days from order confirmation and deposit receipt. Custom grid printing or new color formulation may add 7–10 days for sample approval. Expedited scheduling may be available depending on production capacity.
Q8. Can gridline board steel be supplied as cut sheet rather than coil?
Yes. We operate slitting and cut-to-length lines on-site and supply gridline board steel as master coil, slit coil, or cut-to-length sheet to your board dimensions. Grid alignment to the sheet edge is controlled during cutting, and sheets are interleaved and packaged for export.
